A few years back, there was a popular Roblox hacking group called The Blazes.
I have previously written about them, but I have some pretty scary news regarding them now.
They're back.
1 - How did we get here?[]
Just to recap, The Blazes were a Roblox Hacking Group that lasted from 2014 to 2018. They would lure people to their group, which linked a youtube video with botted likes and subscribers. The description contained a download link to a program that fetches their .ROBLOSECURITY cookie and bans their browser from accessing Roblox.com, effectively making it impossible to reset your password unless you reinstalled your browser.
They would join games and pretend like you got banned, and you had to contact their group and watch the video to appeal. They had 3 major hacking incidents, in MM2, Bloxburg, and Jailbreak.
2 - The Reformation[]
In late 2021, a couple members (one of which I was friends with) from The Blazes wanted to cause more trouble. The VPN service they had used long ago went bankrupt, so they started abusing NordVPN due to its high amount of servers and difficulty to block.
They reformed The Blazes in a group with only 6 people, known as The Reformation.
Their first act of mischief happened on December 25, 2021. While most people were celebrating christmas and spending time with their family, some spoiled brats were playing Roblox.
As The Blazes was full of adults at this point, they weren't celebrating any holidays. Instead they went straight to work to troll these disenchanted brats.
They joined Jailbreak, the last game they trolled.
They made a sort of storm appear. Lightning struck every 10th of a second and people were constantly dying. People started raging left and right. Soon, everyone's screens shifted to an image of Shrek saying "GO CELEBRATE WITH YOUR FAMILY". However, people wearing the CRT (Classic Monitor) hat saw something different.
10 seconds after every saw the Shrek image, they would be kicked saying "You have been banned from Jailbreak for being a spoiled brat. To appeal, visit The Reformation group.".
This was surprisingly effective. They got several accounts to sockpuppet now, with more coming in every few hours.
The new video they posted was also botted, but less so to mimic an appeal form. It tells you to download a program to "fill out an appeal". This new program also downloaded ransomware 3 days after it was opened. Not to mention the cookie logging. Due to almost everyone using Chrome now, it was exceptionally easy for The Reformation to roll out just 1 lock.
Unsurprisingly, it didn't actually ban you. Many users quickly noted their ability to join Jailbreak immediately after being kicked and began to warn people.
The hacks were just scaremongering to get you to click the link. They didn't actually force you to go there. But that wasn't for long.
Soon after, The Reformation made thousands of dollars in Bitcoin from the new malware. But they didn't want to stop there.
Build a Boat for Nothing[]
They soon joined Build a Boat for Treasure on January 2, 2022. First, they made it so that, whenever someone launched, their boat would flat out disappear. If someone was in a seat on said boat, they would be teleported to a black room until they reset.
